As a mixed media artist using metal, wood, paint and text, I weave a common thread
throughout my work connecting different expressions, textures, images and ideas.
My sculptural work tends to be subdued in color whereas my paintings are color
saturated. As with metal and wood, in my paintings I continue my obsessive approach of
sanding, uncovering multiple layers in the process and revealing a new narrative.
Much of my work is created from discarded and found materials. I often emphasize some
of the original elements of the found objects, to reflect its history – be it a scratch, cut,
gouge or burn mark.
Moving between mediums forces me to think differently about how one medium relates
to the other. Even when juxtaposed, they speak as a unified voice.
